SoCal Labor Talks Back On

LOS ANGELES - The on-again off-again contract talks between UFCW reps and Kroger, Safeway and Albertsons are apparently on again.

Negotiators are expected to return to the bargaining table this week, after workers raised the ante by voting to grant the authority for a strike over the weekend.

Talks were planned for Wednesday through Friday, said Brad Chase, a spokesman for the supermarkets, according to an Associated Press report. Negotiations have not been held since last Thursday, when a union-imposed deadline expired without a deal being reached.
