Smart & Final Marks 200th Store with Grand-opening, Donations

Smart & Final cut the ribbon yesterday on its milestone 200th store, located in Long Beach, Calif.

The event marks Smart & Final's "continued growth and commitment to meeting modern consumer shopping needs, as well as [its] rich history and deep roots in Southern California," the company said.

In celebration of the occasion, the grocer announced donations to two community organizations – The Long Beach Little League and the Greater Long Beach/Rio Hondo Chapter of the American Red Cross – at the associate friends & family celebration held the evening before the grand opening.

"Whenever we open a store in a new community, we reach out to local nonprofits and businesses to find out where our contribution to the community could make the greatest impact," said Jeanne Nash, district manager. "We are excited to announce the recipients of our donations this week."

Los Angeles-based Smart & Final operates approximately 250 grocery and foodservice stores under its namesake banner, as well as Smart & Final Extra! and Cash & Carry Smart Foodservice, in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, with an additional 13 stores in northern Mexico operated through a joint venture.
