Slimming-Down App
Women’s Health, a New York-based women’s lifestyle publication published by Rodale Inc., launched a new application for the iPhone and iTouch it developed to help consumers achieve their weight-loss goals.
Called “Your Slim-Down Shopping List,” the free application provides information about 250 of the healthiest, tastiest and most convenient supermarket foods. For each item, there is a detailed description of the product’s attributes and nutritional information, including calories, fat, sodium, carbohydrates and fiber.
“Each year, we enlist a team of nutritionists to comb supermarkets across the country and test hundreds of packaged goods,” said Michele Promaulayko, editor-in-chief of Women’s Health. “With this new portable application, grocery shopping for our health-minded, on-the-go readers just got a whole lot easier.”
In addition to obtaining nutritional information, “Your Slim-Down Shopping List” enables users to search for the best packaged foods for women based on specific goals, including:
• Promote weight loss
• Build muscle
• Fight cancer
• Fight heart disease
• Build bone
The app is available for the iPhone and iPod Touch (requires OS 3.0) and can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store (www.itunes.com/appstore).
