ShopRite’s ‘No. 1 Fan’ to Attend Store Preview
The Aug. 3 preview and ribbon-cutting ceremony for ShopRite of Brodheadsville in Pennsylvania – at 95,000 square feet, the largest location in the nearly 250-store chain -- will be enlivened by the attendance of local resident Madeline Washington, known in the area as “ShopRite’s No. 1 Fan.”
“I’ve been shopping at ShopRite since 1965,” noted Washington, “and I must have saved at least $100,000 since then!”
Owned and operated by the Kinsley family, the ground-up, energy-efficient store boasts such special design features as an animatronic clucking chicken and mooing cow, vintage cars including an original wood-paneled 1926 Model T, and antiques.
Among the store’s additional features are a fresh bake shop that can create custom wedding cakes, a full-service butcher, fresh seafood delivered daily, a full-service floral department, an in-store pharmacy, a broad selection of ethnic foods, and Doris’ Café, serving up a wide variety of chef-prepared meals, from sushi and Asian specialties, to made-to-order sandwiches and brick-oven pizza. The store is also one of the few in the area to offer the one-stop convenience of a Beer to Go department.
ShopRite of Brodheadsville officially opens on Aug. 5.
Operating in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland, ShopRite is the registered trademark of Keasbey, N.J.-based retail cooperative Wakefern Food Corp. The chain serves more than 5 million customers each week.
