ShopRite Selling Nonprofit Seasonal Candy

ELIZABETH, N.J. -- Twenty-two ShopRite stores operated by Inserra Supermarkets in New York's Rockland County and New Jersey are reportedly offering seasonal chocolate bark candy made and packaged by developmentally disabled workers.

The product, ARC Bark, is made by A Sweet Enterprise, a division of nonprofit ARC of Rockland in Congers, N.Y., with all proceeds going to the agency.

A call to Wakefern Food Corp. for more information about the program wasn't returned by presstime. Inserra Supermarkets is a member of Wakefern.

A Sweet Enterprise has about 20 items in various phases of development for all the major holidays and seasons, including Franken Bark, Broomstick Bark, and Boo! Bark for Halloween; and Winter Bark, O'Tannem Bark, Dreidel Bark, and Little Fir Bark for the winter season.

ARC of Rockland is a resource center that helps developmentally disabled people and their families from birth through the senior years.
