ShopRite to Open in Selden, N.Y.

ShopRite’s newest store in Selden, N.Y., will open Oct. 14 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8 a.m.

The ShopRite of Selden will have a fresh bake shop, a full-service butcher, fresh seafood and produce delivered daily, a full-service floral department, as well as a broad selection of ethnic foods. Natural and organic products will be available in every department of the store, which will also feature a large selection of gluten-free items.

The 68,000-square-foot supermarket will have a wide variety of prepared foods, including a healthy greens and salad bar, prepared hot foods and an array of Asian specialties for dining in or taking out, as well as a sushi bar. The store will also feature in-store dining, a Mediterranean olive bar and a grill for made-to-order sandwiches, burgers and grilled chicken.

The ShopRite of Selden will also offer ShopRite from Home, a service that allows customers to place orders online and have them delivered to their home, or packaged for in-store pickup.

Built with energy-efficiency in mind, the ShopRite of Selden includes glass doors on the dairy and freezer cases, LED and T-8 lighting, environmentally friendly refrigerant systems and a store-wide energy reduction system. The store also features a reflective white roof to reduce energy consumption.

A longtime veteran of the supermarket industry, Charles Gallagher, owns and operates the ShopRite of Selden with his family. Gallagher Family Markets includes Charles’ wife, Judy, and brothers William and James, and together they have more 100 years of supermarket experience.

"We are very excited to join our new Long Island neighbors with the opening of a new ShopRite in the Selden community," said Gallagher.  "We are committed to bringing ShopRite’s unique services and traditional low prices to this new location and look forward to having a positive impact on the community.”

ShopRite is a retailer-owned cooperative, based in Keasbey, N.J.
