ShopRite to Celebrate 10th Summer Can Can Sale
This summer marks the 10th anniversary of ShopRite’s annual Summer Can Can Sale, which begins Sunday, July 8 and runs for two weeks. Originally launched 41 years ago as the January Can Can Sale, with an exclusive focus on the Northeast grocery chain’s private label products, the events now feature many national brands as well.
During the sale, ShopRite offers many summer favorites, traditional picnic fare and barbecue staples at super-low prices, along with such popular winter sale items as pasta, coffee, canned tomatoes and olive oil.
In advance of the event, consumers can now visit ShopRite’s YouTube channel for a seasonal sneak peek of the famous Can Can dancers in beach mode. Another way they can observe the anniversary of the sale is to go on the chain’s “Get Can Canned” website where they can transform themselves or others into ShopRite Can Can dancers by uploading photos for placement on an animated dancer’s body. The image can then be e-mailed to friends or shared via social media.
Over the sale’s four-decade history, the grocer estimates it has sold more than 3 billion cans over the sale’s history, including nearly 100 million bottled and canned beverages, 5 million cans of tomatoes, 5 million cans of vegetables and millions of cans of tuna.
