Shoppers Food & Pharmacy Supports Breast Cancer Foundation

LANHAM, Md. -- For the second consecutive year, Shoppers Food & Pharmacy here is supporting the Maryland Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The company is distributing a comprehensive breast cancer guide, serving as a sponsor of the 13th annual Komen Maryland Race for the Cure, and selling pink wristbands in support of breast cancer research, education, and treatment.

Shoppers Food and Pharmacy served as a silver sponsor for the Komen Maryland Race for the Cure, which was held Oct. 1 and attracted more than 21,000 participants of all ages. The retailer donated $10,000, more than 1,700 pink carnations, and 20 cases of red delicious apples to the race.

Throughout October, all Baltimore-area Shoppers Food & Pharmacy stores will be selling pink "Find the Cure" wristbands. The wristbands retail for $1, with proceeds going to the Komen Foundation.

"Shoppers is pleased to once again support the amazing efforts of Komen Maryland to win the battle against breast cancer," said Shoppers Food & Pharmacy president Bill White in a statement.

Shoppers Food & Pharmacy, formerly Shoppers Food Warehouse, operates 61 stores in the mid-Atlantic region.
