Shoppers Food & Pharmacy to Open 62nd Store

LAUREL, Md. -- Shoppers Food & Pharmacy will open its newest store here on Dec. 4. The 67,800-square-foot location will be the grocery retailer's 15th location in Prince George's County and 62nd location in the mid-Atlantic area, as well as the grocer's second store in Laurel this year.

Various activities will take place on opening day, including a chance to win groceries for a year (a prize with a maximum value of $5,200 or $100 per week for 52 weeks), appearances by costumed characters Sponge Guy and Guy the Builder, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Laurel and Prince George's County elected officials and Shoppers executives.
Among the store's features are:
--Natural and organic products, including produce, dairy, frozen, and dry groceries
--350 varieties of fresh quality produce
--A self-serve entertainment bar, including olives, marinated shrimp, sushi, and fresh cheeses
--International foods
--A new Shoppers Café
--Hot prepared foods, including sub and panini sandwiches, wings, soup, and salad bars
--A bakery serving doughnuts made from scratch

The new store will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven-days a week.
Shoppers Food & Pharmacy, formerly Shoppers Food Warehouse, operates 61 stores in the mid-Atlantic region. Stores offer such amenities as Black Angus beef, floral departments, in-store bakeries, fresh seafood, and Provident Bank and ATM branches.
