Shop 'n Save Signs New Labor Contract

MINNEAPOLIS - Supervalu Inc. said on Friday that employees at its 21 St. Louis Shop 'n Save stores approved a new labor contract. The agreement marked the end of a four-week work stoppage.

"We are pleased with the agreement, which we believe will benefit our employees while enabling us to remain competitive in today's grocery industry," said Marlene Gebhard, Shop 'n Save president. "We are anxious to refocus our energy on meeting the needs of our customers and ensuring the success of our stores."

Terms of the new contract were not disclosed. Regular store hours resumed on Saturday.

Supervalu said the financial impact of the strike would be provided in conjunction with its third quarter earnings, which will be released in late December.
