Shop 'n Save Adds Fuel Centers, Announces Pump Perks Program

PITTSBURGH -- Supervalu retailer Shop 'n Save here said yesterday it plans to open new Shop 'n Save Express fuel stations at two of its metro Pittsburgh locations, as well as launch its Pump Perks program for Shop 'n Save customers.

The Shop 'n Save Pump Perks program enables shoppers who purchase specified grocery items to receive a discount on each gallon of gas they buy, up to 15 gallons. When they check out with their groceries, customers will receive a scan-coded voucher at the register indicating their qualified discount rate, which they can then use at the Shop 'n Save Express pump. Customers with Shop 'n Save Rewards cards will automatically receive a discount on fuel center gas.

"We're excited to introduce Pump Perks and reward our valued customers with a discount at our Shop 'n Save fuel centers," said Lee Armbuster, Shop 'n Save president, in a statement. "This is another way that shoppers can realize real savings in the store and now at the pump, too."

The new Shop 'n Save Express fuel centers will be located at the Glenshaw and Wilkins Township locations. The Wilkins' Shop 'n Save Express is scheduled to open May 20, and the Glenshaw location will open at the end of June.

Shop 'n Save also introduced yesterday its new "Instant Cash Discount," an exclusive promotion that adds more value to the Shop 'n Save Rewards Card program. The program remains centered on collecting S&H greenpoints. Now, however, customers can redeem greenpoints instantly for cash discounts on their orders.

Beginning immediately, Shop 'n Save will offer five levels of cash discounts, ranging from a $2 discount (2,500 greenpoints), to a $50 discount (40,000 greenpoints). As an added convenience, customers can continue to redeem greenpoints for Shop 'n Save Gift Cards if they wish to share cash savings with family and friends.

Locally owned and operated Shop 'n Save supermarkets operate within Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and West Virginia.
