Shaw's, Irving Oil Offer Gas Discount

WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Shaw's Supermarkets here and Portsmouth, N.H.-based Irving Oil, a regional refining and marketing company with customers in New England and eastern Canada, have launched an expanded, month-long partnership to provide discounts from 10 cents to 60 cents off per gallon for every qualified Shaw's purchase of $50 to $300 through Oct. 4.

The program encompasses 57 Shaw's locations and over 140 Irving locations in Maine and New Hampshire. Irving will honor shoppers' Shaw's coupons through Oct. 18.

"Everyone buys groceries and everyone buys gasoline," said Shaw's President Carl Jablonski in a statement. "It's a natural partnership to help New Hampshire and Maine shoppers with their family budgets."

The expanded program follows a successful pilot program at three Shaw's and six Irving Oil locations in Littleton, Gorham and North Conway, N.H. this past summer. During the pilot, 7,500 Shaw's Rewards customers saved an average of 24 cents per gallon at Irving Oil during the eight-week pilot program.

Customers who shop with a Shaw's Rewards Card will receive a Catalina coupon, valued at 10 cents per gallon of gas and redeemable at any New England Irving, Bluecanoe, or Mainway location, with every purchase of $50 or higher. Shoppers present their Shaw's Rewards Card and Catalina coupon(s) at the aforementioned fuel stations to receive the gas discounts, with up to 20 gallons available per visit.

For a purchase of $100 or more, shoppers save 20 cents per gallon and the savings accumulate to a $300 purchase, resulting in a savings of 60 cents per gallon.

Shaw's, a division of Minneapolis-based Supervalu, Inc., operates over 200 stores in New England.
