Shaw's Ground Beef Patties Recalled
WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Eighty-five percent fresh lean ground beef patties sold under the Shaw's label are the subject of a recall issued this week by the manufacturer, Asheville, N.Y.-based Fairbank Farms, according to published reports.
Fairbank Farms said the patties, which may be contaminated with potentially deadly E.coli 0157:H7 bacteria, could have been bought by New England consumers between on Sept. 5 about 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Each 1.33-pound tray of the ground beef bears the establishment number "Est. 492" inside the USDA mark of inspections, and the nutritional information label has a time stamp between "17:05" and "17:25." The packages additionally have a date code of "243."
Most of the product was isolated in Fairbank Farms' warehouse, but some affected product was shipped to stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. It has since been removed from store shelves.
Shoppers who bought the patties may return them to their local Shaw's store for a full refund or exchange.
