Shaw's Customers Give Patriots Player Award to Maroney
WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Shaw's Supermarkets here and Kimberly-Clark Corp. this week presented the 2006 Patriots 12th Player Award to rookie running back Laurence Maroney at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. For the past 12 years, Patriots fans have chosen the winner by voting at Shaw's Supermarkets throughout the season, as well as online at www.shaws.com.
The 21-year-old Maroney has rushed 155 times for 624 yards (4.0 avg) and four touchdowns in 12 games for the Patriots this year. He has also won the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week, Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week, and AFC Special Teams Player of the Week awards.
Customers who voted at Shaw's or online at www.shaws.com are eligible to win such prizes as a trip for two to attend the championship game in Miami, courtesy of Kimberly-Clark. Among the other prizes offered were Patriots season tickets and autographed merchandise.
