Shaw’s Brings Wahlstrom Back as Prez: Report
Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. said yesterday that Larry Wahlstrom has come out of retirement to take the reins once more as the West Bridgewater, Mass.-based grocery chain’s president, according to a published report. Wahlstrom’s reappointment was effective yesterday.
Mike Witynski, who became president when Wahlstrom retired last year, is “leaving the company to pursue other interests,” the company told the Boston Globe, declining further comment. Wahlstrom first became president of the 176-store chain in September 2007.
Last month, Shaw’s came to a settlement with warehouse employees in Methuen, Mass., after a lengthy labor action over pay and health care benefits.
Owned by Minneapolis-based Supervalu, Shaw’s operates stores under the Shaw's and Star Market banners.
