Sedano’s Helps Fight Autism
Sedano’s supermarkets and cookware company have pledged to continue their collaboration to raise awareness and funds for Autism Speaks, North America's largest autism science and advocacy organization. Next month, the Miami-based companies will launch a statewide in-store “Puzzle Piece” fundraising campaign to aid research into the condition.
Last year, Sedano’s and IMUSA together raised more than $35,500 for the organization. That program, coordinated by IMUSA USA and carried by Sedano's, took place in the Hispanic-oriented supermarket chain's 34 stores, which are located in south and central Florida.
“Autism affects our community and our customers,” noted IMUSA USA president Manny Gaunaurd, noting that his company also serves as a sponsor of the Miami Walk Now for Autism Speaks event.
Sedano’s, working with IMUSA, will run the fundraising campaign from Feb. 2 through March 2. During the campaign, Sedano's shoppers will be able to buy a $1 puzzle piece as a donation to the cause.
"Autism affects one in every 110 children,” said Sedano’s director of marketing Javier Herran. “We invite the community to stop by our stores and donate $1 for Autism Speaks,".
The first cookware company to sponsor Autism Speaks, IMUSA USA has made significant monetary contributions to research, developed gluten-free recipes for autistic children, and acted as an advocate, supporter and sponsor of area fundraising activities.
