Sealed Air's Cryovac Brand Wins 2 Excellence in Flexography Awards

DUNCAN, S.C. - Sealed Air's Cryovac brand won two awards for "Excellence in Flexography" in the mid web-film-process print category from the Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association (FFTA). The awards were presented on Tuesday, May 8 at FFTA's 2007 Annual Forum & INFO*FLEX Exhibition in Montreal, QC, Canada.

Sealed Air's winning entries were printed in its Rochester, N.Y. facility for Schweigert's Willow Brook honey mustard wings, which received a silver award in the category, and Willow Brook buffalo style hot wings, which received a gold award in the category and Best of Show award for its category. Both packages exhibited good dot shape and registration. As well, the buffalo style hot wings package matched its contract proof perfectly.

Restricted from judging any of the categories Sealed Air enters, Tom Ashcroft, process engineer for Sealed Air's Cryovac brand, serves as a judge for the Excellence in Flexography awards. "Each year we see great entries in every category," stated Ashcroft. "It's quite an accomplishment for two of our designs to be selected."

Since 1986, Sealed Air has won more than 40 awards from the Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association - four of which were from the International Flexo Annual Awards competition.

For this year's competition, FFTA received 123 entries in numerous categories, including wide web, mid web, narrow web, folding cartons and combined corrugated. Judging for the FTA Award is based on degree of difficulty (ink compatibility, registration tolerances, printing complexity, fineness of print, tonal range, defect detectability and added difficulty) and level of execution (image sharpness, ink coverage, registration, dot/screen/vignette quality, consistency and added difficulty). All entries must be flexographically printed and commercially produced during 2006.
