Schnucks Exec Chef to Star at Local BBQ Fundraiser
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The executive chef of Schnuck Markets here will be among more than 30 top chefs who will prepare their best dishes for guests to enjoy in support of culinary students and local hunger-focused charitable organizations.
Schnuck's exec chef Chef Scott Drake said he is looking forward to participating in his first Chefs Wine Country BBQ fund-raiser, Sept. 17 at Mount Pleasant Winery in St. Louis.
"Schnucks is known for quality perishables, but what some may not know is that we have a team of chefs working daily to develop recipes to deliver flavorful, made-from-scratch entrees and side items to Chef's Express stations across our company. I'm excited to bring a sampling of our expertise to the Chefs BBQ," Drake said. "Coming from a family of chefs, both trained and untrained, I am proud to help sponsor an event that will help to ensure the culinary education of chefs within the St. Louis region."
Schnuck's said the event wilI feature a feast of tapas-style dishes that range from appetizers and salads to entrees and desserts. Additionally, award-winning Mount Pleasant Winery wines will be available for purchase to accompany the feast.
The event is sponsored by PFG Middendorf for the 14th year. Additional partners include the local ACF Chefs de Cuisine Association of St. Louis, Certified Angus Beef and Mount Pleasant Winery. Funds generated at this year's event help support local chefs with study/travel programs and, through the ACF Chefs de Cuisine Association of St. Louis, Inc. Education Foundation, provide scholarships to aspiring St. Louis area culinary students. In addition, Operation Food Search and Our Strengths' Operation Frontline will benefit.
Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnuck Markets, Inc. operates 102 stores (including five Logli stores) and 99 pharmacies in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Mississippi and Iowa.
