Schnuck Markets Installs Petroleum Merchandising at its Memphis Convenience Stores

ST. LOUIS -- Schnuck Markets, Inc. said it is installing petroleum merchandising systems at five of its Memphis locations to generate additional in-store traffic and sales from the pumps.

The system, called Smart Merchandising from Greensboro, N.C.-based petroleum marketing solutions provider Gilbarco Veeder-Root, enables promotional programs and issues coupons at the dispenser for immediate redemption inside the store.

"Smart Merchandising is a means for us to enhance the overall shopping experience for our fuel and convenience customers by providing opportunities to save grocery dollars through promotional and sales events," said Denis Oldani, director of fuel centers and video for Schnuck Markets, Inc., which is based here.

Schnucks operates more than 100 grocery stores in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Mississippi and Iowa. However, at this time, Schnucks fuel and convenience centers are only operated in the Mid-South.

The Smart Merchandising system allows the retailer to create digital promotions, generate associated coupons, schedule promotions by time of day, target individual sites or groups of sites, track results, and generate reports.
