S&C Foods Latest Grocer to Go Downtown

NASHVILLE -- S&C Foods, an independent retailer based here, is the latest among retailers to open stores tailored for the downtown trade, with a new H.G. Hill Urban Market to open in Nashville on Feb. 6.

The market will occupy the first floor of an upscale residential development tower in the central business district.

Focusing on fresh meats, produce, and prepared meals, H.G. Hill Urban Market will cater to shoppers who work and/or live downtown. The store will feature full-service meat and seafood counters, bakery and deli, and freshly prepared sushi daily, the grocer said.

Scott Means, president of Urban Market and owner/operator of S&C Foods, said in a statement that the store will serve "a vibrant, resurgent, downtown residential community."

Suburbanites who work in the central business district can place orders in advance, and pick up them up on their way home, the retailer said. The store's operating hours will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday thru Friday, and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekends.

S&C Foods operates nine stores in the Nashville market.
