Save Mart Golf Tournament Puts Customers at Center Stage

MODESTO, Calif. - While PGA Tour professional Arron Oberholser and LPGA Tour professional Angie Rizzo won the Save Mart Shootout last Monday, it was the retailer's customers who were in the spotlight as winners of a store-wide sweepstakes.

Six finalists drawn from entries at participating Save Mart stores were invited to the Save Mart Shootout for a chance to start the 2006 Toyota Camry in front of the opening gallery. Each contestant was given a chance to choose a Gatorade bottle with a car key inside from an LPGA or PGA pro. John Ross was the winner of a 2006 Toyota Camry.

The tournament was also host to The Jelly Belly Junior Putting Contest, during which kids from all over the Valley competed for a trip to Disneyland for being the best putter of the day. Boys and girls ages 10 and under and from 11 to 14 putted on the same practice greens as Annika Sorenstam and other LPGA and PGA pros for a chance at a family Disney vacation.

New to the tournament festivities this year was the Save Mart Wine & Cheese Expo which attracted more than 1,500 people to sample wines from 14 wineries along with six cheese companies.

Save Mart operates 124 stores throughout the Central Valley from its headquarters in Modesto. Seventy-five stores operate as Save Mart; five as S-Mart Foods in Stockton and Lodi; and 44 are warehouse stores under the FoodMaxx banner.
