Sara Lee Bakery Cutting Runs to Rural Michigan Stores
ST. LOUIS -- The Sara Lee Bakery Group here has reportedly discontinued making deliveries to small, Mom and Pop grocery stores in Michigan's thumb region.
In mid-September, according to published reports, the distributor sent letters to the small grocers notifying them their accounts would be closed because fuel, transportation costs and other economic conditions had made it unprofitable for Sara Lee to continue serving their rural markets.

Sara Lee said in an email to the Huron Daily Tribune that its products were still available at Meijer, Wal-Mart, and most Kroger and Spartan stores.
Sara Lee Bakery Group is a subsidiary of Chicago-based Sara Lee Corp.
