Safeway Raising Breast Cancer Awareness Funds in California

PLEASANTON, Calif. - Safeway and a team of breast cancer experts from the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) have joined together to increase awareness about breast cancer in San Francisco and San Jose.

On Wednesday and today the UCSF Breast Cancer "Mammo Van" visited four Safeway store parking lots in those communities to increase awareness about breast cancer and to inform women about breast health. The mobile unit was open to the public.

The mobile tour is part of Safeway's annual breast cancer fundraising campaign that runs through Nov. 1 in all of the company's North America stores. Safeway raised more than $2.3 million last year for breast cancer and has set a goal of $3 million for 2003.
