Safeway Offers In-Store Flu Vaccines

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Safeway Inc. is dispensing flu vaccines at all 1,767 of its stores in the United States and Canada through February 2007.

Most stores will give vaccines on a walk-in basis at in-store pharmacies, while others will conduct scheduled flu shot clinics.

"The best way to prevent the flu is to get a vaccine each fall," said Dave Fong, Safeway s.v.p., pharmacy. "By administering vaccines on site, Safeway is making it easy for anyone to protect themselves. Receiving a flu shot is as easy as stopping at the pharmacy during your regular shopping trip or coming to a scheduled flu shot clinic."

Safeway said it also offers full-service adult and adolescent immunization services for the prevention of such ailments as shingles, tetanus, hepatitis, pneumococcal, and meningococcal.

Safeway owns and operates stores under the Vons, Dominick's, Genuardi's, Carrs, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Pak 'n Save, and Pavilions banners.
