Safeway Names Eastern Division President
PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Safeway Inc. has named Hank Cominiello president of the company's Eastern Division, which he has been heading on an interim basis for the past nine months.
"Hank has done an outstanding job in his role running our store operations in this region over the last seven years," said Steve Burd, Safeway chairman, president, and c.e.o. "His leadership skills combined with his abilities as a merchant and someone who sets exceptionally high store standards will continue to serve Safeway well in this market."
Cominiello joined Safeway in 1970 as a courtesy clerk and progressed through a range of retail store and district manager assignments in the company's Denver Division. He was promoted to v.p., retail operations in Safeway's Eastern Division in 1998 and acting division president in November 2004.
