PLEASANTON, CaIif.--Safeway Inc. here said yesterday that it will bring Bruce Everette, executive vice president, back to Safeway headquarters from Dominick's, where he had been responsible for leading the Chicago-based division since September 2004. Everette's successor at Dominick's will be Don Keprta, who has been serving as vice president, retail support there since March of 2005, Safeway said.

Back at Safeway, Everette will take on broader retail responsibilities, and will continue to be one of the company's top five executive officers and a member of the corporate real estate committee, the company said.

"We appreciate the leadership that Bruce provided during his time in Chicago," said Steve Burd, Chairman, President and CEO. Burd added, "We are also fortunate that Don Keprta joined Safeway last February with extensive and valuable experience in our industry, and has been working closely with Bruce in Chicago for eight months."
