Russ’s Market Rolls Out New Local Beef Program

Midwestern regional banner Russ’s Market is launching a new Platte River Ranch Natural Angus Beef program that features cuts from Greater Omaha Packing Co., Inc., a local supplier of steaks to a number of top area restaurants.

Available in stores this month, Platte River Natural Angus Beef is produced from 100 percent grain-fed, laboratory-verified, locally produced Angus beef. The Angus genetics combined with optimal aging ensure outstanding presentation on the plate, as well as superior tenderness and flavor.

Pat Raybould, president of Lincoln, Neb.-based B&R Stores, Inc., the parent company of Russ’s Market, said the new beef program will dovetail perfectly with Russ’s experienced, on-site meat cutters. “If you’re looking to grill up the best steak here in Nebraska, it makes a lot of sense to start with natural, grain-fed, locally sourced Angus beef,” he said. “It continues with a perfect cut by an experienced meat cutter at your local grocery store, and it finishes with perfect preparation on the grill at home.”

Russ’s Market backs up its “excellence in beef” approach via a Web site featuring recipes and tips for preparing beef, or virtually any other meat, in a variety of tasty ways.

Raybould founded the employee-owned B&R Stores in 1962. During the past 46 years, the company has grown to include four store concepts (Russ’s Market, Super Saver, ALPS and Grand Central Apple Market) located in seven cities across Nebraska and Iowa.
