Roundy's Metro Market to Host 'Friday the 13th' Singles Night

MILWAUKEE -- Roundy's-owned Metro Market, located at 1123 N. Van Buren here, will host its third Singles Night this Friday, April 13 from 10 p.m. to midnight.

The theme of the event, "On the Market in the Market III," highlights a popular movie theme and is being billed as trying to help singles experience "a little more luck on Friday the 13th."

The night will operate much like the Metro Market's first two singles nights, which attracted roughly 500 people each time. In addition to a live disc jockey and dancing, the event will give participants a chance to sample Metro Market specialties such as sushi and trout while sending video text messages on a big screen to the person they've noticed in the aisles. It will also offer participants the chance to decorate cookies and have their picture taken with "Jason," the central character featured throughout the "Friday the 13th" film series.

All attendees are being asked to bring a can of food for admission to benefit the Hunger Task Force. Additionally, those attending Singles Night will have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets for $2 each for the chance to win a Milwaukee Bucks Prize Package that includes tickets to see the Bucks play the Charlotte Bobcats April 14. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Roundy's Foundation, which supports hunger relief, families in crisis due to domestic abuse, and the advancement of literacy.

"On the Market in the Market III" will take place after Metro Market's regular hours, but cashiers will be available for those who want to do some grocery shopping.

With nearly $4 billion in sales and 22,000 employees, Roundy's Supermarkets, Inc. operates 155 retail grocery stores under the Pick 'n Save, Copps, and Rainbow Foods banners in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois.
