Roundy's Foundation Delivers Food to Needy; Launches 'Roundy's Readers'

MILWAUKEE -- The Roundy's Foundation here is spearheading a tour to deliver 294,000 pounds of food, valued at $260,910, to food pantries throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota via its Pick 'n Save, Copps, and Rainbow banners.

The "Roundy's on the Road" foundation tour, which kicked off Monday, Sept. 25 and runs through today, got underway with a kick-off rally at the Clarke Square Pick 'n Save in Milwaukee. Sponsored by the Roundy's Foundation, which was created to strengthen the relationship Roundy's supermarkets have with their communities, the rally saw the company's charitable arm making grants totaling $80,735 to nine Milwaukee organizations. Roundy's Foundation and Roundy's Supermarkets also launched "Roundy's Readers," a reading initiative targeting 3- to-6-year-olds. The program, a partnership with the Milwaukee Public Library, Milwaukee Bucks, and Source Interlink Cos., will bring a story time for children to 10 Pick 'n Save stores that will pilot the project.

With nearly $4 billion in sales, Roundy's Supermarkets operates 143 grocery stores under the Pick 'n Save, Copps, and Rainbow Foods banners in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois.
