Roundy’s Bows Chicagoland Concept Store
After months of readying for its first fresh-focused format store in Chicago, Milwaukee-based Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc. will open its first Mariano’s Fresh Market this morning in Arlington Heights, Ill.
Located at 802 East Northwest Highway at Kensington Rd., Roundy’s new Chicago concept store is a nod to the Italian culinary heritage of its CEO Bob Mariano, who will celebrate grand opening festivities with customer meet-and-greets with players from the Chicago Blackhawks and former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka.
According to the supermarket’s website, the store will be “unlike any…you've ever been to. We think that's a good thing. Because we've gone above and beyond to choose the freshest high-quality foods from just about everywhere. Be it kosher bagels from down the street, or mozzarella from Caserta, Italy. Our butchers pride themselves on their knowledge of fine cuts; as well as how best to prepare them. And we created a neighborhood shopping environment filled with amenities like an Italian coffee shop with gelato, a wood-fired pizza oven, and sit down sushi bar. Not to mention a full-service pharmacy. All at prices so compelling, that our-Shop well. Eat well. Live well.-philosophy can become yours.”
Roundy’s has a second Mariano’s Fresh Market location slated to open in 2011 at 340 East Randolph St. in Chicago’s East Loop, which will be the first full-service grocery store to open downtown Chicago in many years.
Roundy's Supermarkets, Inc. operates 155 retail grocery stores and 88 pharmacies under the Pick 'n Save, Copps, Rainbow and Metro Market banners in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and now, its first Mariano’s Fresh Market in Chicago.
