Roche Bros. Grocery Now Delivers in Boston

Roche Bros. is expanding its Home Delivery service to the city of Boston as of May 5. Residents of the Beacon Hill, Financial District, North End, West End, Fenway, Back Bay, South End, South Boston, Prudential, and Waterfront neighborhoods will be able to take advantage of the service, which features items hand-picked by personal shoppers.

Wellesley, Mass.-based Roche Bros. has long been providing grocery delivery to the region’s suburban areas, but not within the city proper. The new Boston service will offer expanded delivery hours from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate hectic urban lifestyles.

Shoppers using Roche Bros. Home Delivery get the same price and selection as in-store customers, including the weekly specials and the ability to redeem paper coupons. The service costs $9.95 per order, with no minimum or maximum order requirements or fuel surcharges.

Customers usually place orders online to choose their products, but phone ordering is available for an additional $5. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., customers can call in their grocery orders.

Downtown Crossing Roche Bros. Store to Open

Noting that the service expansion comes “in advance of our new flagship store [set] to open in Downtown Crossing,” Rick Roche, co-owner and CEO of Roche Bros, said: “This is a great way for our neighbors to get to know us. We’ve been a part of the community since our Roslindale store opened in 1952, but this is the first time we’ve offered our Home Delivery program to our future neighbors downtown.”

The flagship Downtown Crossing store is scheduled to open in spring 2015.

To promote the service, Roche Bros. is offering a special promotion for first-time Boston-area customers, featuring free delivery with no minimum purchase.
