Rite Aid Dispenses New Vitamin Program
CAMP HILL, Pa. -- Rite Aid Corp., based here, said yesterday it has launched a vitamin initiative in its stores nationwide, with the goal of helping customers interpret the staggering amount of information about vitamins now available, and make sure patients are taking the appropriate vitamins, depending on their health needs.
The initiative informs customers which vitamins can address many specific health conditions, using a free vitamin answer wheel designed to explain which vitamins are recommended vitamins for various health conditions. The program also includes coupon offers, and other tips to teach shoppers about how vitamins should be used.
Rite Aid teamed with vitamin experts to create the answer wheel, which provides customized vitamin recommendations for 10 health conditions for women and 10 health conditions for men. The chain's pharmacists are trained to answer additional questions about vitamins.
"Rite Aid's new vitamin answer wheel and vitamin initiative are another way that we can offer solutions to our customers for dealing with everyday health questions," said s.v.p. of marketing John Learish in a statement. "At Rite Aid we are committed to health and wellness, and we want our pharmacists to be personally involved in helping to find healthy solutions to live healthier lives."
The initiative additionally includes a new vitamin section on Rite Aid's Web site, http://www.riteaid.com. The section provides more tips and coupons, along with a wellness advisor that assists visitors in selecting among the many vitamin choices. The Web site is periodically updated with the latest health and vitamin information for men and women. Customers can also e-mail Rite Aid pharmacists with questions about personalized vitamin regimes.
The vitamin initiative is part of a yearlong commitment to patient health and wellness designed to give patients answers and guidance on such health issues as diabetes maintenance and heart health. In May, Rite Aid kicked off its Allergy Initiative to offer answers to patients suffering through the allergy season.
