Ring. Bros. Marketplace to Offer Free Grilling Classes

Community-based independent Ring Bros. Marketplace this week will begin offering grilling classes to prepare its shoppers for the upcoming grilling season.

Called “Mastering the Grill,” the classes will begin May 22 and will run for six consecutive Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. The classes are geared towards consumers looking to learn the fundamentals of cooking in a relaxed setting. In lieu of a fee, donations will be accepted for the Harwich Food Pantry.

Ring Bros. general manager Donald Fallon -- a Culinary Institute of America-trained chef -- will teach the class. “The classes are like a live interactive cooking show, with students able to ask questions as we go,” he said. “It’s a lot of fun, I’ve gotten to know a bunch of the regular students so there is some humorous back and forth at times. They always ask great questions and come back with feedback on how the recipes and techniques worked out for them.”

The classes will take place at Ring. Bros.’ demonstration center, and will focus on basic and advanced grilling techniques. Topics in this series are meat, fish, chicken, seafood, vegetables, and sausages and ribs. Each class will include a lecture and hands-on activities.

Ring Bros. will ask participants to donate canned or non-perishable foods for the Harwich Family Food Pantry. “We were able to donate a good amount of food to the Harwich Pantry last time and we hope to even better for them this time,” said Fallon.

The South Dennis, Mass.-based Ring Bros.’s format consists of six independently owned businesses in the store: Ring Bros. Markets which specializes in fresh produce, dairy, and grocery products; Harney’s Liquors which provides one of the largest selections of wines, craft brews, and top shelf liquors on Cape Cod; Dark Horse Beef and Deli offering all natural beef, chicken, cheese, and deli products; Spinner’s Pizza & Burrito prepares fresh gourmet pizzas, burritos, take home meals, and homemade desserts; Chatham Fish & Lobster with fresh fish, shellfish, and lobster; Nata’s Noodles which, together with Montilio’s Express round out the marketplace with desserts, freshly made pasta, and prepared gourmet foods.
