Richard Funk, Ex-Frozen Food Trade Exec, Dies
Richard C. Funk, former president of the National Frozen Food Association (now the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association, or NFRA), based in Harrisburg, Pa., died last week at the age of 89. Funk headed the trade group for 14 years before retiring in June 1984.
"It was a privilege to work with Dick," said Nevin Montgomery, current NFRA president and Funk's successor, in a statement. "He was instrumental in guiding the association from a distributor organization to an all-industry organization. He was well-respected in the industry for his leadership and professionalism."
A WWII Marine Corps veteran, Funk was an active member of several civic groups, including the American Society of Association Executives.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie "Bunnie" Funk; two daughters, Shirley F. Mason and Carol F. Arnold; two sons, D. Richard Funk and Terrence L. Funk; a sister, Marian Graham; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
