Retailers Line Up for Dairy-based Weight-loss Promotion

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Nearly 30 retailers, including Cub Foods, Kroger and Fred Meyer, Weis, Acme, Schnucks, Giant Eagle, Harris Teeter, Bi-Lo/Bruno's, and HEB
have signed on for 3-A-Day of Dairy's fall promotion, encouraging moms to include dairy in their weight loss plan.

As part of the promotion, shoppers will receive an interactive CD called "Tips and Tools for a Slimmer You," with a purchase of one item each of milk, cheese, and yogurt during a single shopping trip. The CD includes a 16-week food and exercise journal, expert advice and success stories, dairy recipes, and time-saving workouts from celebrity trainer Jim Karas. Shoppers will also have the opportunity to receive weekly e-mails with healthy tips and recipes.

3-A-Day is also offering consumers the opportunity to receive their own NFL Team Cooler, featuring their favorite team's logo. It’s available by mailing in a receipt showing the dairy purchases, along with a check for $9.99 to cover a shipping and handling fee.

"Moms believe that fall is a realistic time to start a healthy eating plan, because they have more time for themselves with the kids back in school," said Grant Prentice, e.v.p., marketing and business development, Dairy Management Inc. "With awareness of 3-A-Day's connection to weight loss currently at 74 percent, we are in a prime position to help moms eat healthy and lose weight at a time of year when they are establishing routines."

Television and print ads emphasizing dairy's help in trimming the waistline as part of a weight loss plan will appear this September and October. In addition, more than 7,000 sampling events will be held during the promotion at select retailers nationwide.
