Reese’s Lets Fans Pick the ‘Perfect Play’
College basketball season could mean a big payday for one fan, thanks to a joint promotion between Hershey’s Reese’s brand and the Indianapolis-based National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) with a possible $1 million grand prize.
The “Perfect Play” promotion gives consumers the chance to vote for the top NCAA men’s basketball play on a weekly basis while registering for a shot at making a half-court basket for $1 million during the 2012 NCAA Final Four Men’s Basketball Championship.
In tandem with the promotion, Reese’s will sponsor for the third straight year the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) College All-Star Game, a free event set for April 1 at Houston’s Reliant Stadium. Additionally, for the first time, the brand will sponsor the Division II and Division III games. The Reese’s College All-Star Game will air on truTV.
“What better way for fans to celebrate March Madness than by shooting for a chance at $1 million?” asked Anna Lingeris, spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania-based Hershey Co.
Fans can go to www.reesesperfectplay.com to view weekly game highlights and vote for their Perfect Play. Each week, those who vote for the winning play will be entered for a chance to win the grand prize, with its potential $1 million payoff.
On the eve of Reese’s College All-Star Game, the brand and the NCAA will team up with Kroger to host an event at Texas Children’s Hospital. During the March 31 event, Reese’s and the Cincinnati-based grocer, whose Southwest Division is the market share leader, will present a $10,000 donation to the hospital, and players and coaches participating in the next day’s game will be available to sign autographs and spend time with patients.
