Redner’s Plans 4th Maryland Store
Buoyed by successful stores now in Cecil and Harford counties, Redner's Markets Inc. announced plans for a fourth location in Maryland.
President and CEO Richard Redner unveiled plans to open a new warehouse market in Essex, Baltimore County, with a tentative fall 2011 opening. Redner’s began expansion into Maryland with the opening of its Elkton Warehouse Market in 2005.
The 58,000-square-foot Essex Warehouse Market will be located in the Country Ridge Shopping Center. Renovations to the existing building, formerly occupied by an Ames department store, are slated to begin immediately. The store is expected to employ 150 people in both full- and part-time positions.
The new Essex market will be a full-service grocery store offering an in-store bakery; full-service deli; and full-service seafood, produce and meat departments, along with frozen, dairy, health and beauty, pharmacy and grocery departments. The store will feature UScan checkout terminals that allow shoppers to pay with either cash, credit or debit card. Customers will also be able to take advantage of Redner’s Pump Perks fuel discount program and redeem at a local fuel station as yet to be determined.
Reading, Pa.-based Redner’s Markets Inc. operates 39 Warehouse Markets and 13 Quick Shoppes throughout eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.
