Redner's to Open new Grocery, Convenience Stores
Redner's Markets, Inc. plans to open two new locations in Hegins and Reading, Pa., bringing the company’s store count to 41 full-service grocery stores and the other its 17 convenience locations.
The Hegins Warehouse Market, slated to open this fall, will be located in the Midway Shopping Center and is its fourth store in Schuylkill County. Renovations to the existing building, formerly a Midway Supermarket, will begin immediately and the completed store will measure approximately 40,000 square feet.
The Warehouse Market will be a full service grocery store offering services such as in-store bakery, full-service deli, seafood, produce and meat departments, along with frozen, dairy, health and beauty aids/non-foods and grocery departments. The property owner will continue to operate Forest Drive Pharmacy as separate entity, located within the grocery store proper. The pharmacy will be a sub-tenant to Redner's, as well as, the branch of Wells Fargo bank located within the building.
In addition, this store will have a self-service fuel station, where customers will be able to take advantage of Redner's Pump Perks fuel discount program. Since its inception in 2008, the Pump Perks fuel rewards have saved its Redner’s customers over 2.5 million in fuel purchases, according to the grocer. The store will employ approximately 80 people in both full and part-time positions.
The Reading/Muhlenberg Township Quick Shoppe will measure approximately 6,000 square feet and will offer several new features not previously found within existing Quick Shoppe locations. It will have an expanded food service area focusing on a wider variety of fresh, made to order of subs, sandwiches, soups and baked pizza. and an expanded coffee and cold beverage bar.
It will also employ the use of touch screen ordering systems from Retalix that allow shoppers to customize their food selections. Customers will also find an array of convenience items within dairy, health and beauty aids/non-foods and grocery departments.
The fuel station will feature eight pumps and, as with the planned Warehouse Market fuel station, will allow customers to take advantage of Redner's Pump Perks. A new addition to this site will be a fully automatic, hands-free car wash. Customers will have the option to choose from four varieties of a car wash ranging from economy to a deluxe. The Quick Shoppe will employ approximately 10 people in both full and part-time positions and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2012.
Reading, Pa.-based Redner's operates 40 Warehouse Markets and 16 Quick Shoppes throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.
