Redner's to Install Energy-Saving Lights in Freezer Cases
READING, Pa. -- Redner's Warehouse Markets here will install new energy-efficient fiber optic lights in the reach-in refrigerated cases at one of its stores, following a recently completed test of the product.
The lighting, EFO-ICE, manufactured by Solon, Ohio-based fiber optic lighting provider Fiberstars, Inc., is designed to illuminate refrigerated and frozen display cases without adding the heat associated with other forms of lighting, thus lowering the cooling costs of refrigerated cases, a major source of energy consumption in grocery stores.
Redner's will install the EFO-ICE system in the cases of its store in Joppatowne, Md.
Redner's operates 40 stores under the Redner's Warehouse Markets banner, in addition to a dozen Quick Shoppe convenience stores.
Chains including Albertsons, Whole Foods, Pathmark, Publix, and Shaw's also use Fiberstars fiber optic lighting systems.
