Redner's Gives Toys, Bucks to Tots

READING, Pa. -- At the conclusion of its successful 2005 Toys for Tots drive, Redner's Markets here made a monetary donation of $97,489 and four tractor-trailers of new toys to the United States Marine Corps Reserve outreach program.

The monetary donations will be presented to local detachments of the Marine Corps or Marine Corps Leagues for use in their 2006 program. All new toys were collected and distributed before December 25, 2005, to children within the communities of each of Redner's stores.

The family-owned retailer has been participating with the Toys for Tots program for 24 years, collecting monetary donation and new toys with an emphasis that all donations are used within the communities where they are collected. Throughout the months of November and December, all Redner's Warehouse Markets and Quick Shoppes become drop-off points for new toys to be donated to local needy children during the holiday season.

During that time, Redner's associates asked customers to participate and donate $1 towards the program by purchasing a Toys for Tots paper choo-choo train or drop their loose change at each register. Customers can write their name or a message on the train, which is hung on the store wall until Christmas day.

Redner's operates 40 Warehouse Markets and 11 Quick Shoppes throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York.
