Ralphs/Food 4 Less Supports Area Hospitals

LOS ANGELES -- Ralphs Supermarkets and Food 4 Less Stores has this month been working to raise $250,000 for children's hospitals in Southern California. The donations represent monies being collected during a December fundraising campaign held to support five local children's hospitals.

The Ralphs and Food 4 Less family of stores is offering customers and associates the opportunity to make monetary donations in collection canisters located at the checkstands, to help support hospital-bound children in Southern California through the company's nonprofit arm, The Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation.

The foundation will make $50,000 grants to each of the five children's hospitals.

"Ralphs and Food 4 Less believe strongly in giving back to the community," said Dave Hirz, Ralphs president.

The Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation was established in 1992 by Ralphs Grocery Co. to fulfill the supermarket company's commitment to giving back to the communities it serves. The foundation has assisted hundreds of nonprofit organizations, schools, and community groups with grants in excess of $50 million.

The Kroger division operates more than 450 conventional and warehouse-style supermarkets under the Ralphs and Food 4 Less banners in Southern California, Nevada, Illinois and Indiana; and Ralphs, Cala Foods, Bell Markets and Foods Co in Northern California.
