Raley's Extends Online Shopping via 2nd Store

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Fresh food specialist Raley's newest store opening in Elk Grove this week featured the regional chain's second online shopping offering. Called ecart, the e-commerce tool - already operational at the chain's Benicia store -- allows customers to place their order online at raleys.com, designate a pick up time, and have their orders loaded into their cars when they arrive at the participating stores.

Those shoppers who venture into the 64,000-square-foot Elk Grove store will also find a variety of services aimed at convenience, the grocer said.

"Our customers in Elk Grove are busy families looking for convenience, service and value," says Raley's president and c.e.o. Bill Coyne. "We've updated our store layout and our prepared foods offerings to meet their needs. Our goal is to help make their lives a little easier."

Offerings include a cafe featuring Berkeley-based Peet's Coffee & Tea, as well as a full-service deli with gourmet sandwiches and hot panini, self-serve soups, a fresh sushi bar, grab-and-go salads and sandwiches, and hot entrees, like rotisserie chicken and tri-tip.

Other store features include:
- Sizzling Wok Chinese food
- Well for Life, a concept encouraging healthy living
- Play Care, a fun environment for children ages 2-8 to play while parents shop
- Pharmacy open 7 days a week
- Event Center: for holding community group meetings
- Four self-checkout lanes
- Tri Counties Bank

Raley's operates more than 135 stores in Northern California, Nevada, and New Mexico under the banners of Raley's, Bel Air Markets, Nob Hill Foods, and Food Source.
