PublixDirect Begins Online Shopping Service
LAKELAND, Fla. - PublixDirect is now accepting online orders for grocery delivery in several areas of Palm Beach and Broward counties in Florida. Zip codes included in the initial service area are: 33063, 33065, 33066, 33067, 33071, 33073, 33076, 33428, 33431, 33432, 33433, 33434 and 33486.
PublixDirect President, Tom O'Connor, said, "We're excited to begin the roll out of our PublixDirect service.
"When customers enter http://www.publixdirect.com, they will be prompted to enter their zip codes. Customers in the active service area will be able to browse the online store, place orders and schedule delivery. Customers in zip codes outside the initial service area will be able to browse the site and submit their e-mail addresses so we can notify them when service is available in their areas," said O'Connor.
Deliveries can be made as early as the day after the order is placed. Customers will also have the option of placing orders up to seven days in advance. There will be a $7.95 service fee, which will be waived for 30 days after the customer signs up.
The company expects to expand service to an additional 28 zip codes by the end of the year, targeting full launch completion by the spring of 2002.
"We chose to implement the service through a `roll out' of zip codes. This allows us an opportunity to make any necessary adjustments within a smaller audience of customers," said O'Connor. "Our focus is on quality rather than quantity."
