Publix Using New Color Scheme in Store Interiors
LAKELAND, Fla. -- Publix shoppers along the west coast of Florida will soon see a new look from the regional retailer. The chain is updating wall treatments in 100 of its stores this year, replacing the traditional pastel shades of turquoise and coral with dark green, red, orange, and gold.
Additionally, Publix will feature nostalgic murals above its customer service desks that include pictures of old stores and advertisements; the chain's founder, "Mr. George" Jenkins; and other memorabilia.
While the new decor package will eventually be used chainwide, not every store will necessarily convert to the new look, Publix spokeswoman Maria Brous told Progressive Grocer. "We're freshening up the look of the stores -- remembering the past but updating for the future," she said.
In another change for the company, Publix is testing new employee uniforms in 50 of its stores. The updated uniforms are all shades of green, and don't include bowties.
