Publix Recognized as One of Best IT Workplaces

LAKELAND, Fla. -- For the third straight year, weekly IT publication Computerworld has recognized Publix here as one of the top workplaces for information technology professionals.

The grocer ranked 81st out of 100 in the publication's 14th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, which was published in the June 18 issue and online at Publix was the only supermarket chain to be named in the survey.

"In such a highly competitive sector, once again our core strengths of associate ownership and recognizing our associates for their valued contributions have made us a great place to work," noted Publix director of media and community relations Maria Brous.

The annual lists of 100 companies are compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire on company offerings in such areas as benefits, diversity, career development, training, and retention. Additionally, Computerworld conducts detailed surveys of IT employees, and their responses count heavily in determining the rankings.

Publix, which is privately owned and operated by its 144,000 employees, operates 905 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee.

Computerworld, known as "The Voice of IT Management," is published by Boston-based IT media company International Data Group (IDG).
