Publix Recalls Empanadas

Publix Super Markets is issuing a voluntary recall on all codes of prepackaged 2 and 4-pack Apple, Pineapple and Pumpkin Empanadas sold in retail bakeries due to the undeclared milk ingredient.

The Lakeland, Fla.-based said the recalls affects stores in 10 counties: Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, and Houston counties in Georgia; Collier and Lee counties in Florida; and Davidson county in Tennessee.

The product was sold in a variety of different containers, Publix said.

"The packaging error was detected during a routine label review," said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. "As part of our commitment to food safety, we routinely inspect our product labeling for accuracy and for product quality."

Brous said there have been no reported cases of illness.
