Publix Online Deli Ordering Now at 50 Stores
Publix Deli Online Easy Ordering, an initiative enabling online order placement of custom sub sandwiches, wraps, and sliced meats and cheeses in the Southeast grocery chain’s deli department, has rolled out to 50 stores in select markets within its operating area.
Shoppers can place their orders online or via mobile device, where they can select the items they want, specify the pickup time and place the order. An order pickup number appears on the customer’s final order summary and is also sent by e-mail.
Orders are staged at a designated location in the deli department and marked with “Online Easy Pickup” signage. Store sale prices that are in effect on the day of pickup are honored. Payment occurs at the time of pickup. No minimum order amount is required, and no service fee is charged. As it was developed with smartphone users in mind, the system prompts customers to save order selections to their “Favorites” to make future orders easier.
If a customer needs to change an order that has already been placed, those modifications will be made directly with the store’s deli department, whose telephone number appears on the final order summary.
“As we continue to provide our customers with the service they have grown to expect, we strive to offer new services that enhance their overall shopping experience,” noted Publix Director of Media and Community Relations Maria Brous. “Publix Deli Online Easy Ordering is a natural extension of our service commitment, especially for our on-the-go customers.”
Originally introduced last August at the grocer's Southgate Shopping Center store in Lakeland, Fla., the service has rolled out to 50 more stores as Publix seeks to better gauge customer response and overall performance.
Privately owned and operated by its 153,000 employees, Lakeland.-based Publix has 1,061 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
