Publix Offers Online Hurricane Safety Planning to Consumers

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Publix Super Markets here said yesterday it is joining forces with OneStorm, a free online service that allows families to customize a hurricane plan, develop a shopping list of hurricane supplies, research evacuation routes, locate shelters, and more.

"Our customers depend on us to meet their hurricane preparedness needs," said Maria Brous, Publix director of media and community relations, in a statement. "Our partnership with OneStorm is an extension of our commitment to serving our communities before, during, and after a storm. We have the safety of our customers and their families at the forefront of our hurricane business recovery plans."

OneStorm, endorsed by Max Mayfield, former director of the National Hurricane Center, and Bryan Norcross, CBS News' hurricane analyst, is the most comprehensive hurricane planning guide on the Internet, according to Publix.
