Publix Named Great Place to Work in IT

For the fifth year in a row, Publix has named one of IDG’s Computerworld top workplaces for information technology professionals. Publix came in eightieth on this year’s list and remains the only supermarket chain to so honored. Additionally, Publix ranks No. 45 for companies with 10,000 or more associates. The recognition is part of the weekly IT publication’s 16th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, published in the June 15 issue of Computerworld and online at www.computerworld.com.

“Our IT associates play a critical role in our company’s success,” said Publix director of media and community relations Maria Brous, who added that the “IT associates whose contributions and years of service have made us a great place to work.”

The Best Places to Work in IT list is a yearly listing of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals compiled by IDG’s Computerworld. The ranking is assembled based on a comprehensive questionnaire on company offerings in categories including diversity, career development, training and retention. Computerworld also conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses weigh heavily in determining the rankings.

Privately owned and operated by its 140,000 employees, Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix has 1,002 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
