Publix Honored as Top Team by March of Dimes
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Super Markets was recently presented the March of Dimes Presidential Top Team Award in recognition of its WalkAmerica fundraising efforts.
Publix raised $2.1 million to support March of Dimes' efforts to fight prematurity and is the No. 1 WalkAmerica team in Florida. The Top Team Awards are given to the top 10 teams in the nation.
The March of Dimes, based in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched a five-year campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth.
